Dandelion Bookshop
Jamie Ericson
139 S. Oak Park Avenue
For Dandelion Bookshop co-owner Jamie Ericson, reading is a means for understanding—ourselves, others, new places, new ideas. That’s what she hopes to share with others at the Hemingway District’s new bookstore at 139 S. Oak Park Avenue. “The chance to put a book in someone’s hands they didn’t know about and have it become their new favorite read or learn something new? That’s super rewarding,” she says.
Cozy and bright, the Dandelion Bookshop evokes a feeling of hopefulness. The shelves are lined with new releases from all genres. A dedicated children’s section, plus a back room for book clubs and writing groups, will provide the community a new gathering place.
As an Oak Park resident, Jamie knew the community needed a bookstore after The Book Table in Downtown Oak Park closed. “I could tell there was a need and an interest here,” Jamie says.
The Oak Park community showed up in a big way for Dandelion. Jamie was seeing large crowds in store even before their official grand opening. “It feels good to be here and be a hub for the community. We already have repeat customers.”
Stop by and Jamie, her husband Kurt and their nine-year-old son, Teddy, will help you find your next favorite read.
