Cafe Cubano

Mayra Fernandez
113 N. Oak Park Avenue

When you enter Cafe Cubano, the vibrant colors and rhythmic music transport you to Cuba.

Mayra Fernandez and her husband Javier opened Cafe Cubano more than 20 years ago in Elmwood Park. Last spring, they made the decision to move their restaurant to 113 Oak Park Avenue in Oak Park — and they love it here!

Cafe Cubano prides itself on serving authentic Cuban food—they’re known for such signature dishes as roasted pork, Cuban sandwiches and ropa vieja. Mayra’s father-in-law was a cook in the Army where he learned to cook in large quantities. He was their original cook, and Cafe Cubano still uses his recipes today.

Swing by Cafe Cubano for a bite to eat—and enjoy one of their many events, including Friday night karaoke, live music and dancing on Saturdays and an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet on Sundays.
