In the time she has been manager at the 128 N. Oak Park Avenue location of Billy Bricks, Ana Careaga is proud that it’s become a place where all kinds of people feel welcome.
High school students come by during their lunch hour for a bite to eat. Families come for dinner and Ana equips the kids with coloring pages and crayons to keep them entertained. And, for those with gluten sensitivity, she says no other gluten-free pizza dough compares to Billy Bricks.
Her favorite thing is when customers let her add her own flair to a menu item. “Sometimes customers will ask what to order and I’ll say, ‘The Roma Tomato is my favorite sandwich, but I add arugula and pesto mayo to it,’” Ana says. “Getting to make it my way for others is fun.”
The wood-fired brick oven is central to the Billy Bricks experience. The Neapolitan-style pizzas are prepared at 900 degrees to give you the crispy, chewy crust that only comes from a wood-fired oven. Stop by for a pizza and stay for the casual, welcoming atmosphere.
