Deborah Wess was ‘selling’ people on Oak Park long before she was a Realtor, touting her love for the village to friends. Now, Deborah officially sells Oak Park and the surrounding communities as a real estate agent with Berkshire Hathaway at 101 N Oak Park Avenue.  

“The longer I’ve been in real estate—nearly 10 years—the more I realized that it dovetails with my passions,” Deborah says. “I’m very much interested in urban planning, zoning and schools—all of which are related to property taxes, which are related to people’s homes.” (Deborah is also a key member of the Oak Park Homelessness Coalition.) 

For Deborah, working as a Realtor is not just about a physical home; it’s a significant transaction tied to people’s most important life events: marriage, children, new jobs, downsizing and more.  

Deborah has lived in the neighborhood for 30 years. “Oak Park has a very urban feeling. It has history. It’s walkable. It’s easy to get to the city via the Metra or the two L stops.” More than that, Oak Park—and the Hemingway District in particular—is home for Deborah. It’s where she lives, works, shops and spends her free time.
