The retail store at 133 N. Oak Park Avenue offers a tasting room experience. Ask to try a flavor, and owner Kay Kuhlman will provide a sample—plus her recommendation on how to best use it. A Sicilian lemon, for example, makes an excellent citrusy salad dressing. And the Neapolitan herb is a perfect steak marinade.
Kay Kuhlman was looking for a fun, part-time retirement job when she joined the team at Olive & Well in 2007. Then, in 2014, she bought the store from the previous owner. Now 10 years into her ownership, Kay is still having fun in her retirement job.
According to her, the hardest question to answer is ‘what’s your favorite flavor?’ because they’re all good! Instead, ask the best olive oil to spice up a soup or how to use the blood orange-infused oil in your baking—she and her team will have the answer for you.
